We’re thrilled to announce that NABU is bringing the joy of reading to families across Africa through radio! Every week, NABU broadcasts storybooks in native languages on major radio stations in Rwanda, Kenya, and Nigeria. Here's when and where you can tune in:
- Rwanda: Listen on Radio Rwanda 100.7 FM every Saturday at 2 PM.
- Kenya: Catch us on Radio Citizen 106.7 FM every Saturday at 9 AM.
- Nigeria: Tune into Kids FM 101.7 FM every Saturday at 10 AM.
Through our 15 Minutes to Literacy with NABU program, we’re connecting with thousands of families, delivering culturally relevant stories designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading in children.
Radio is a powerful tool for improving literacy rates, especially in underserved and remote communities where access to books or the internet is limited. By broadcasting mother-tongue stories, NABU ensures that every child has the chance to develop essential literacy skills, regardless of their location or economic background.
Stories in native languages help children build confidence, improve comprehension, and connect more deeply with their cultural heritage. The interactive format of our radio programs, which includes story readings and fun Q&A sessions, keeps families engaged and fosters shared learning experiences at home.
This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the invaluable support of our partners, who share NABU’s vision of making literacy accessible to every child.
- Radio Rwanda: The largest-reaching station in Rwanda, with an expansive network of community radio stations. Their platform helps NABU reach even the most remote areas of the country.
- Radio Citizen: A top broadcaster in Kenya, connecting urban and rural families across Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and beyond. Their wide audience ensures NABU stories reach children everywhere.
- Kids FM: A leading family-focused station in Nigeria, committed to bringing enriching educational content to its listeners.
We’re proud of the incredible impact we’re making, but we need your support to keep these programs running.
Donate now to support NABU Radio and help us reach more families with free, culturally relevant, mother-tongue books. Together, we can ensure every child, no matter where they live, has access to the tools they need to succeed.
