Celebrating Women’s History Month with NABU

NABU: Celebrating Women’s History Month with NABU

March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history and in our communities today. At NABU, we celebrate this month by amplifying the voices of women who are shaping the world and by continuing our mission to empower young girls through literacy.

Women at the Heart of NABU

NABU was founded by women, led by women, and strengthened by the dedication of incredible female leaders, authors, and illustrators. Across our global literacy initiatives, women are at the forefront - creating stories, advocating for education, and ensuring that young girls everywhere have access to books that inspire them to dream bigger and achieve more.

Through our work, we strive to break barriers and open doors for the next generation of girls, fostering confidence, creativity, and leadership through the power of storytelling.

Empowering Girls Through Stories

Stories have the power to inspire, educate, and transform lives. NABU’s collection features books that encourage young girls to see themselves as leaders, innovators, and change makers.

Here are some of our favorite titles that celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of young girls:

"The Clay Queen"– Follow Nwabunie, a young potter who defies gender norms to compete in a village pottery contest, proving that talent and determination have no boundaries.

"Dance of Courage" – A powerful story of bravery and self-belief, highlighting a young girl’s journey to confidence and empowerment.

"Believe in Yourself" – A heartwarming story that teaches girls the importance of self-expression, inner strength, and standing proudly in their choices.

Through these books and many more, NABU provides strong female role models who challenge norms and inspire young readers to break barriers and create change.
